Long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion.
Looking for a treatment for heartburn and indigestion that works quickly and on the go? These tablets could be the perfect solution for you. Gaviscon Double Action Tablets use three active ingredients to ease your heartburn and indigestion. They contain calcium carbonate and sodium hydrogen carbonate, which work as antacids.
Antacids work by neutralising your excess stomach acid, easing the pain and discomfort that it can cause. The final active ingredient is sodium alginate, which forms a protective barrier over the contents of your stomach, preventing acid reflux and soothing irritation in your chest and throat.
Active Ingredients: Each chewable tablet contains 250mg sodium alginate, 106.5mg sodium hydrogen carbonate and 187.5mg calcium carbonate as the active ingredients
Other Ingredients: aspartame (E951). If you have phenylketonuria, note that the product is sweetened with aspartame (E951), a source of phenylalanine. Contains carmoisine lake (E122).The tablets do not contain gluten.
If symptoms continue after 7 days consult your doctor. This product contains sodium and calcium.
Do not use if:
This product has a high content of sodium, to be taken into account if you are on a low salt diet.
Leave at least 2 hours between Gaviscon intake and other medications, especially H2-antihistaminics, tetracyclines, digoxine, fluoroquinolone, iron salts, thyroid hormones, neuroleptics, thyroxine, penicilamine, beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propanolol), glucocorticoid, chloroquine, estramustine and diphosphonates.
Gaviscon can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if needed, although because it contains calcium carbonate the duration of treatment should be the shortest possible.
Gaviscon, as many antiacids, can impair the absorption of important nutrients, such as Vitamin B12. If your doctor suggested using Gaviscon for a prolonged period of time, we recommend taking a vitamin B12 supplement in the form of a spray (to bypass the gastro intestinal tract where the absorption is impaired).
If you experience any of the following side effects, please consult your doctor.
These may include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, itching, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
