How does Avomine Tablets Work?Avomine Tablets 25mg can provide up to 24 hours relief in one dose and is generally well tolerated and can be used by children from 5 years. The active ingredient, promethazine, works by blocking histamine from binding to receptors in the body. It blocks histamines in a part of the brain known as the “vomiting centre” which is activated when it receives nerve messages from the ear. The vestibular apparatus in the middle ear is constantly providing feedback to your brain about the position of your body, especially when you are travelling by boat or car. This is what causes symptoms of motion sickness when travelling and leads to nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and vertigo (spinning sensations). In order to prevent this, you can take Avomine tablets one to two hours before travelling.
